Writing a McGregor Hall/Henderson Rec Players Theatre Biography (adult)

  1. Your biography should be written in third person (Apologies for being an English teacher, but make it sound like somebody else is writing about you).

  2. Start with  your name in all-capital letters. (You’re important, so we’re going to make it look that way!)

  3. Indicate your most notable/favorite theater experiences. Important: please format the shows and roles you list like this, with the italicized show name first, followed by your role and the producing theatre company in parentheses:

    • Guys and Dolls (Adelaide, Ragtag Theatre Co.)

  4. Write your thank yous.  You may want to thank your family, any mentors you have, the directors, and/or anyone else you want to thank. Include these in this format as a first-person quote written from you to others:

    • “Thank you to all my adoring fans who came to see all my crappy shows through the years! You’re the best!”

  5. Limit your bio to 100 words or less.

Tips

  • You don’t have to talk about all of the theater experiences that you have had. Write about the more popular ones that people might have seen or more recent ones (You don’t have to include a role you had as Tree No. 2 when you were five years old).

  • Keep it short and interesting!

  • Make it look and sound professional. Don’t be too full of yourself!
